Marvel’s M.O.D.O.K is competing with the many other shows to be an edgy sci-fi comedy. The genre is slowly becoming more and more crowded with shows like Rick and Morty, Harley Quinn and many more. All so far have been successful, but when will the fans have enough of these reinventions of popular characters. I think Marvel’s M.O.D.O.K has successfully tapped into this genre and has made it work for the character.
Overall, the first episode of M.O.D.O.K. is a fun introduction to what the series will be about, it sets the overall tone of the show just right, so it doesn’t feel to silly but still feels humorous at times.
The most noticeable difference about the show is the animation style. It is made using stop motion and made by the same studios who did Robot Chicken.
So, if you’re a fan of Robot Chicken and Marvel this is the programme for you!
Without spoiling, the plot of the first episode and maybe the rest of the series is, M.O.D.O.K must deal with a failing A.I.M as well as a crumbling family life. The first 26-minute episode delves into both areas, and you really begin to realise how he sucks at both.
Out of 10 I will score this episode an 8 as it was a brilliant opener on what the show will be about, and it has kept me excited for the next few episodes.
Hopefully, you will enjoy this refreshing take on a marvel character as much as I did!
