One Piece Season 1 Episode 7 - My Anime Journey - We Need The History of Shanks!

In Episode 7, " Epic Showdown! Swordsman Zoro vs. Acrobat Cabaji!”, we see the mayor immediately approach and provoke Buggy. I get why the mayor is doing this, but he is being impulsive and not thinking about how the outcome of the fight would affect him. Luffy knocking the mayor was a good idea. The mayor was jeopardizing all their chances of winning this battle, so something had to be done.

The Gum Gum Balloon ability is cool. Luffy now can increase his body mass so he can deflect big projectiles, like the buggy balls. Another one of Buggy’s crew members challenge the protagonists, why do they even try at this point? We all know Cabaji is going to lose!

Damn! Cabaji has fire breathe… it’s either that or he is some sort of magician. NO ZORO!!!! He happily got stabbed again to ensure that Cabaji’s foul play would come to an end. This battle is very tense, even if we know the outcome.

Nami just wants the map and treasure for herself. I don’t think she grasps the concept of teamwork. It serves her right for getting captured. She can’t just choose when she is going to back stab someone without any consequences.

Zoro’s weekly appreciation sentence – HE’S A BADASS!

Yes! Cabaji the Unicycle man is dead. That was an easy fight.

I wasn’t expecting such a big reveal! Captain Buggy knows Shanks, I wonder how? Maybe he killed or Captured Shanks! I hope not, but you never know!

“You dumbass, act dead!”

I found that line really funny, as it highlights the life as goons and to be honest, I don’t know why they don’t do this more often.

The characterization of Luffy is great in this episode! Luffy was hurt and was almost defeated, but he cared more about protecting his promise and the hat more. I don’t know whether to think he is foolish or to admire his bravery.

BUGGY STABBED THE HAT!!

This is so sad, the promise he made to Shanks. He really wanted to give the hat back to Shanks and now he can’t…. Luffy is going to flip the hell out!!!

It is revealed that Shanks and Buggy were both in the same pirate crew many years ago. But Buggy has an immense hate for Shanks. Which begs the question, what did Shanks do?
